Greenville County will soon be getting 450 new jobs, thanks to pharmaceutical company PL Developments. The company plans to build a manufacturing and distribution facility there.
PLD specializes in the manufacture, packaging and distribution of pharmaceutical and healthcare products. It will be investing $45 million in the new facility, which will be located at 513 Old Griffin Road in Piedmont.
PL Developments president Evan Singer pointed out that the Greenville County location comes with several advantages. “The strategic location provides us efficient access to major rail, highway and ocean ports, which will benefit our business immediately,” he said. He added that “longer term, the company has several growth initiatives, which will be made feasible through the investments made at the site.”
Singer said that the company has been working to open this sixth production site for nearly two years. It already has a South Carolina facility in Clinton, as well as sites in New York, Florida and California.
PL Developments was founded in 1988 by Mitch Singer and Mort Rezack. In 2007, the company moved into a 200,000-square foot facility in Westbury, NY. PLD bought Aaron Industries Liquid OTC Pharmaceuticals in 2013, expanding its products to include a large range of solid and liquid remedies and first aid items. The company now has over 1,000 employees and offers beauty care products as well pldevelopments.com.
PLD plans to move into the new Greenville County facility in early 2017 and begin manufacturing in early 2018.
