Before Randal Nardone formed Fortress Investment Group, he had been working in various organizations and at a range of positions which equipped him with the right skills and experience to establish and run a company on his own. This started when he completed his education at the Boston University where he obtained a Juris Doctorate from its school of law. This was after he had graduated from the University of Connecticut with undergraduate degrees in Biology and English. After exiting the school of law, Randal Nardone became a member of the executive committee and a partner of a boutique law firm in the US, Thacher Proffitt & Wood. Here, he offered consultancy services to his clients and also to the clients of the organization. It was then that he could later figure out that he had chosen the wrong career line and decided to transition to the finance field. Randal did this by seeking and securing employment at a reputable financial institution, Blackrock.
After working for Blackrock for almost a decade, Randal Nardone acquired expertise in the management of assets and investment instruments. This was after raising the ranks in the firm and working in different capacities in the organization. Nardone later moved to become the managing director of UBS, a role that he played for only a year. This was when the idea of forming his own company came into his mind. He understood that the extensive potential that he possessed could never be exploited while being an employee. He also identified some mistakes that the firms in the investment industry were making and so he was prepared to offer competition to the firms, despite them being older in the industry.
In 1998, Randal Nardone, in a combined effort with the two other financial moguls, Rob Kauffman and Wes Edens, formed Fortress Investment Group. This was the starting point of the great success and wealth that Randal has acquired over the years. Immediately the company was started, its success began. Its growth became rapid over the years, and many investors started having faith in it. As it grew, the wealth of Randal Nardone consequently grew, making him appear on the Forbes List of the wealthiest billionaires at position 557 globally.
