Tieks CEO, Kfir Gavrieli, recently expressed his opinion on the foundations of a modern business. Addressing an audience at an event titled “Doing Business for Good” held in the American Jewish University, the Stanford University Economics graduate noted that enterprises had an opportunity to stand for more than the products they sell.
Acknowledging the difficult times, the world is facing due to the pandemic, Kfir Gavrieli asserted that there has never been a better time for companies to help build better communities. He compared businesses to vehicles that empower entrepreneurs to deliver positive changes to the people they serve. Further, Gavrieli noted that the opportunity to help is a privilege that business owners must capitalize on. See This Page for more information.
But Gavrieli and Tieks did not extend a helping hand just because a pandemic struck. Philanthropy has been a part of the company since its inception in 2008. Through the Gavrieli Foundation, Tieks’ lending now surpasses the $10 million mark making it Kiva’s largest lender. Go To This Page to learn more.
The foundation focuses on women looking to secure their financial futures through business activities. While the businesswomen only receive micro-loans, the boost is enough to get their ideas off the ground. Consequently, they become empowered to impact their communities positively.
After the pandemic struck, Kfir Gavrieli readily committed to being of help where needed. He purchased new machinery and repurposed Tieks’ Los Angeles offices to make masks for healthcare workers. Later on, he realized that Tieks’ customers were able and willing to help.
He launched a campaign dubbed “#SewTogether”, where Tieks’ followers learned how to sew quality masks. The goal, which Gavrieli achieved, was making a million masks. Those who took part in the process received gift cards for Tieks’ world-class, Italian leather, foldable ballet shoes.
While the campaign helped Tieks’ product promotion efforts, Kfir Gavrieli cautions companies against involving themselves in philanthropic acts to promote a product. They must first determine what a community needs and figure out how to provide it.
