Co-Founder of a Production Company

With a newly printed and embossed diploma from American University in his hands, Ross Levinsohn became an entrepreneur and new college graduate at the same time. Another graduate of the same program co-founded a production business with him. The pals successfully served hundreds of clients for four years before closing their doors.

Building Skills

Through roles at Home Box Office, CBS, Alta Vista and Fox Interactive Sports Media, Mr. Levinsohn built key skills that all propelled him to the leadership role where his today. Those skills included negotiating contracts, managing teams, making changes to incorporate new technology and taking measured and calculated risks with objective information to drive the decision. Fox Interactive Sports Media was the first organization to offer him an executive role in 2004.

Leading the Way

Mr. Levinsohn spent two years at the top spot at Fox and led the organization to the top position in online sports news. His departure in 2006 paved the way for a new business venture with James Heckman. Their ad agency achieved great success, and they chose to sell it to Yahoo in 2010. Ross Levinsohn spent the next nine years as a CEO at Yahoo, the Los Angeles Times, Tribune Media Company and more.

Taking Over Maven

Mr. Heckman’s company, Maven, performed with glory for nine years. It bought faltering publications and turned them around. Sports Illustrated needed help, and Mr. Levinsohn was hired to do it. Ross Levinsohn became Maven’s CEO last year.
