Blue light is something humans are exposed to every single day whether it be from their computers or their mobile devices and do not fully understand the effects of this on the eyes or other parts of the human brain. Blue light is a high-frequency short-wavelength light and has many effects on the body.

In some cases blue light can allow the circadian rhythms to work properly indicating that it is time to wake up, however, prolonged usage of phones and laptops at the wrong time can hinder this rhythm and cause sleeplessness. Patients can limit exposure by unplugging their phones or tablets before bedtime to avoid temptation. Another great rule is the 20-20-20 rule which tells the patient to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.  With Covid-19 more people are spending time on their computers exposed to blue light. Children are spending hours every single day for school while their parents are spending the same amount of time working in front of the computer. The implications of this are still unknown, and we do not know the long-term effects of this prolonged usage.
