Heath Ritenour Explains How Freedom Boosts Productivity

Heath Ritenour insists that his team at IOA shouldn’t be micromanaged and be given freedom while at work. The idea is to give the employees a chance to operate at their best without pressure from authoritative posts. He ensures that motivation among the team emerges from a shared mission, giving the clients the best. Heath Ritenour doesn’t have problems with his employees when they cut on office time to attend to other pressing matters like family. He knows that when he forces these employees at work while they have other things to attend to, they won’t offer their best and reduce both customer and employee satisfaction. Introducing employee freedom at IOA has led to significant success at the company, more than any other time.

The idea to implement freedom at work was after Heath Ritenour was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through several chemotherapy programs. He was devastated and thought it would be the end for him. He regretted many targets he didn’t accomplish. However, such a mentality only derailed him and his health continued to deteriorate.

Judy and Michael are the two people that helped Heath Ritenour change his perspective about cancer, and life at large. Judy was the first patient he interacted with. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer and advised slim chances of surviving. However she kept on believing that things would be better and surprisingly, she was cured. It was such a motivation to Heath Ritenour but after a couple of chemotherapies, he lost control. It was Michael who elevated his spirit. He went through surgery but that didn’t remove all the cancer. Therefore, the chemo he went through was to prevent the cancer from growing. Seeing such elevated spirits from these individuals encouraged Heath to take control of his life. Instead of worrying about the things he didn’t achieve, he concentrated on the achievements he had made including work and family. He found the passion to report to work even though he was sick and implemented freedom at work.
