Tieks is a successful shoe company known for its high-quality split-sole shoes. Tieks shoes are sold exclusively online. The company has been recognized by Inc, Forbes, The Oprah Magazine and other notable magazines. Kfir Gavrieli, the co-founder of Tieks helped co-found the company in 2008. Gavrieli was inspired to become involved with creating the brand Tieks because he saw it as an opportunity to connect directly to consumers.
According to Kfir Gavrieli, the internet allows small and big companies to become known globally. Gavrieli received his bachelor’s, Masters and MBA degrees from Stanford. Outside of working on improving Tieks, Gavrieli is also involved in several non-profits.
The Gavrieli Foundation is one non-profit Gavrieli is involved in. The foundation works through Kiva to help provide loans to disadvantaged women entrepreneurs. So Far, the company has given close to 59,000 microloans to women entrepreneurs. Kfir Gavrieli thoughts on the #SewTogether campaign
The Operation #SewTogether campaign was started as the result of a conversation that Kfir Gavrieli had with a friend. Gavrieli’s friend informed him that some hospitals were on the verge of running out of masks. Gavrieli’s friend’s sister is a doctor who has firsthand knowledge of the personal protective gear shortage. Hearing this news, Kfir Gavrieli came up with the idea for #SewTogether.
Some of the Tieks facilities were rearranged to produced masks. Customers were encouraged to participate in the #SewTogether with a $50 gift card handed out for every 25 masks sewn and a $100 gift card handed out for every 50 masks sewn. The campaign produced over 636,000 masks to help frontline workers. 24 hours after the campaign was started millions of fans were encouraged to be proactive and help supply personal protective gear for frontline workers.
