Krishen Iyer: Venture Capitalist, Entrepreneur and Startup Mentor

Krishen Iyer is an Indian venture capitalist, entrepreneur and startup mentor. He has been a successful investor for over the past two decades and has mentored some of India’s most well-known startups such as Snapdeal, Myntra and MakeMyTrip. Krishen Iyer holds degrees in Engineering and Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and Stanford University respectively. Krishen Iyer has been a strong advocate of the Indian startup ecosystem. 

 

Krishen Iyer, earlier known as Kris Gopalakrishnan, is an Indian investor and entrepreneur. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Bahrain-based venture capital firm New Silk Route Partners. He was formerly the Vice President of India’s Headstart Network, an organization which provides early stage funding to technology companies. Krishen Iyer is also the co-founder of Axilor Ventures, a venture capital platform for startups.

 

Krishen Iyer holds degrees in engineering (BTech) and business administration (MBA), both from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India. He received an MS in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and an MBA degree with Distinction from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Krishen Iyer has invested in several companies like Snapdeal, Myntra, CarDekho, Urban Ladder & many other startups across India. 

The successful CEO also became a member of the Board of Directors of PickMyLaundry, a laundry services aggregator which received an investment of $1.2 million from Krishen Iyer in April 2016. He serves on the Board of Directors for Axilor Ventures, a venture capital platform to support startups founded by alumni of IIM Calcutta and IIT Madras. Krishen Iyer is also a mentor for Microsoft Ventures, an initiative by the software giant to support technology startups in India.
