Money and Mountains Imprint on Robert ‘Bo’ Parfet’s Life

Robert ‘Bo’ Parfet is a Michigan native from the Kalamazoo area. He has impacted the world through his involvement in the aspects of finances, mountaineering, education, and philanthropy.

Parfet received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Chicago’s Northwestern University. He furthered his education at the University of Michigan by obtaining a Masters degree in Economics.

Once he completed his education, Bo Parfet worked at Wall Street as an investment banker for J.P. Morgan’s corporate finance. He served as a Research Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board at the same time. On a whim, he decided to challenge himself to climb the Seven Summits, a challenge few people accomplished. What started as a casual challenge transformed into a journey of discovery and self reflection that Parfet documents in his book, “Die Trying: One Man’s Quest to Conquer the Seven Summits.”

In light of his mountaineering adventures, Parfet established the Seven Summits Awards Program to provide grants for top students to perform healthcare-related field research. He also created a partnership between Kellogg School of Management and the Explorers’ Club that allows explorers to come to campus to lecture on the leadership lessons from their past exploration.

Bo Parfet and his wife, Meredith, set up Denali Venture Philanthropy in 2013 to fund entrepreneurs who are dedicated to making social change to merge their shared interests of business and philanthropy together.

Parfet currently serves as the Managing Director of the Prosperity Membership for DLP Real Estate Management.
