Pamela Baer’s Heart For San Francisco General Hospital

Pamela Baer has been a significant force behind successful fundraising activities in her community. Her passion has been in easing the problems affecting the vulnerable in society.

She graduated from the University of Texas. She previously worked in New York City. There she met her husband and relocated to San Francisco. While living in New York, Pam Baer headed her company in managing and marketing and philanthropy for clients like Christian Lacroix, American Express, Columbia House, and different magazines.

Pamela Bae’r Philanthropy to society

Giving back to society has always been in Pamela Baer’s nature from childhood. However, when a personal misfortune struck her in 2001, she realized her passion for local healthcare. Her son, Zach, suffered a life-threatening accident and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. Thanks to the hospital’s doctors, Zach was able to recover.

In a year, she had joined the Board of the SFGH Foundation. She is now a lifelong Director of the Board. She aims at increasing local understanding of the hospital’s needs and excellent services. Hearts in San Francisco is one program helping in realizing this. The initiative included other events, namely Hearts After Dark and Heroes & Hearts, which have raised more than $13 million.

Along with her family friends, Pam managed to raise$150 million to support a new trauma center and acute care for the hospital. 50% of the money came from Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, and Priscilla Chan.

Pamela’s motivation

Her paternal grandmother, Frances Axe, instilled Pamela Baer’s inspiration, motivation, and vision to succeed. France’s phrase that says, for goodness sake, one must do something. This mantra motivated the founding of For Goodness Sake, a pop-up shop and e-commerce site that Baer founded in 2014. It donates 25% of what they make from sales to charity partners.
