Many people get stuck trying to lose weight or change their eating habits. The first few weeks are tough, but people have a lot of motivation and see results. However, developing a new habit is hard. Old patterns often override good intentions, and a person’s weight loss stalls because they can’t find the time, motivation or energy to work out daily or keep up with eating healthy meals. Carl Daikeler strives to get people unstuck so that they can push ahead in their plan to lose extra weight and maintain a fit and strong body.
Before BeachBody
Carl Daikeler’s career could be divided into two separate phases: before BeachBody and after it. The 13 years of his career before BeachBody involved five years as a producer for the National Football League. His primary duty was to produce halftime shows that captured audience attention during breaks in the games.
Daikeler spent eight years as a producer in the infomercial industry. These late-night marketing tools made it possible for people to try new products and purchase health and fitness items without leaving their homes. Daikeler’s area of focus was weight loss. He took this to the next level by interviewing those individuals who bought his products. He wanted to know why people preferred those over going to the gym. Daikeler learned that the gym cost too much, was too hard to get to and instilled a sense of shame or embarrassment in many people.
Launch of a Business

After a few years of developing a business plan, Carl Daikeler launched BeachBody in 1998. BeachBody quickly went from an idea to an empire. At first, Daikeler and his team made a dozen videos and set them up in a DVD format. By 2015, he added a streaming service for the over 300 videos in the collection. Increasing use of smartphones led Daikeler and his team to create an app for people to get fit virtually together.
Shakeology became part of Daikeler’s plan in 2009. It’s a drink mix that combines fiber and protein and fills in vitamin and mineral gaps in a typical adult’s diet.
