Repton School is a private coeducational boarding school in the English countryside. As one of England’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools, it has produced some of the United Kingdom’s greatest writers, politicians, scientists and artists. Literary excellence
Roald Dahl, the author of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” is just one of the great writers who attended Repton. He believes that, even in the current computer-dominated age, it’s as important as ever to read literature because it encourages empathy with other human beings by seeing situations from different points of view.
Communication
Furthermore, no matter how the workplace changes, humans will still need to communicate with each other effectively, and studying literature and writing helps teach communication skills. Wilton works closely with computer scientists at Microsoft, and they say they are concerned because it’s getting harder to find new employees who can both code and speak well.
At Repton School, language arts and the STEM subjects are all emphasized because the goal is to produce well-rounded and highly marketable students. As a result, Repton graduates are generally highly effective everywhere.
