The Career Of Dan Snyder

Dan Snyder is the new owner of the Washington Football Team but the story of how he got to that role is certainly one of interest. He was born in the mid 60’s to a Jewish family and had an affinity for business from a young age. In fact, his first business venture was when he was just 17 when he teamed up with his dad to sell bus trip packages to fans who wanted to see the caps play at away games.

His first job was at a book store in the local mall and by the time he turned 20, he had already dropped out of college. He did that to focus on his new business leasing out private jets to transport students to Fort Lauderdale for spring break. He claims to have made more than a million bucks from that venture. He later teamed up with a real estate entrepreneur to make a magazine designed for college kids but this soon fell through after a failure to generate enough ad revenue for their business. By the time 99 rolled around, the previous owner of the Washington team, Jack Cooke, passed away and Daniel Snyder used the opportunity to buy it.

At an $800 million price tag, it went down as the most expensive transaction in pro sports history. Most of the money he used to buy the team was actually borrowed from other sources but he has since managed to make a lot of money for the team since he first took over. By the time 2011 rolled around, he was serving on a lot of different committees while still trying to cope with the fact that the team was not doing much better as far as their win lose streak. Dan Snyder is worth more than $2.6 billion.
