Tom Chang is a renowned educator, surgeon, and clinician who works at Acuity Holdings as the founder, co-CEO, and retina surgeon. He went to the Toronto University Medical School and later joined the University of Western Ontario for his ophthalmology residency. After completing his own fellowship in retinal diseases at Johns Hopkins University, Tom Chang MD joined Dr. Donald Gass at the Miami University Eye Institute, where he did his macular disease fellowship. Tom Chang MD’s medical career began at the University of Columbia, where he would work as an assistant professor in the ophthalmology department. Years later, Tom Chang was promoted to a full professor and worked at the institution for over six years.
Tom Chang was in charge of the institution’s ophthalmology faculty before founding a retina institute in California in 2005. Dr. Tom rose to prominence in 2006 after taking part in the first successful cell implantation surgery.
